南オーストラリア州の首相であるSteven Marshall氏は、人気対戦格闘ゲームシリーズ『モータルコンバット（Mortal Kombat）』の新作映画制作が南オーストラリア州にて行われることを発表しました。

新作映画は「アクアマン」の監督を務めたJames Wan氏がプロデュースを手がけ、受賞歴のあるコマーシャル映像作家Simon McQuoid氏が監督を担当します。Simon McQuoid氏は過去にPlayStation 3のCMを手がけた人物で、今回が長編映画デビューとなるそうです。
南オーストラリア史上最大の映画制作となり、地元の映画産業に新たな雇用をもたらすだろうとSteven Marshall氏が語る『モータルコンバット』新作映画。今月よりプリプロダクションが開始され、年内に本格的な制作が行われるとのこと。なお、現時点でストーリーや登場キャラクター、出演者等の詳細は不明です。
